Hey Ben, nice job. Don’t the Islanders have the 3 seed clinched? The most points Carolina can get is 99 which would tie them. If head to head is the tiebreaker then Isles have it 3-1. I’m just wondering. Thanks |

Thanks very much! The first tiebreaker used is ROW (Regulation + Overtime Wins). The Islanders and Hurricanes both have 42 ROW, so if the Islanders lost their next two games and the Hurricanes won their next two games (and at least one in regulation or overtime), they would both have 99 points, but Carolina would have a higher ROW and win the tiebreaker. |

You dont want the Jackets. I recall the NYI losing to CBJ 4-0 last week in a pivotal game. Do the islanders have the fire power to beat a hot bob in the playoffs? |

They don't have the firepower to beat anyone. But, it's gotten them this far. Just going to enjoy the ride. |

I'm glad we have a writer but these blogs are like sitting in on a Trigonometry class. By the way no one is afraid of the Blue Jackets. |

More pivotal for you then us. Jackets have been playing well lately the question is does BOB crap the bed like he usually does come playoff time? |

A lot of mathematical calculations go into some of these shots on goal. But seriously, I have more of a problem with one of the underlying assumptions of these posts......i.e., that PPG is the best indicator of a player's success on the ice. PPG only considers offense, not defense, and defense is just as important as offense in the outcome of a game. (Consider this season's Islanders vs. last season's Islanders.) I'm not sure what the answer is. Advanced stats? Seems like a huge effort. +/-? Flawed stat, but better than nothing, and certainly better than a stat that only measures offense. |

Really enjoyed this blog Ben. 👍
Personally I’m hoping for Columbus. Bob oft poops the bed come playoffs, and it would a great way to showcase the Islanders organization to Panarin, Duchene and Dzingel. |

Yea I want no part of CBJ first round. Hot bob or not, they would be seeking some serious revenge after blowing a 2-0 to the Caps in the playoff last year. |

I don’t care how well Carolina is playing I still feel that’s who I want the Islanders to face in the first Round. |

Yeah I know saw your posts on the pens thread😂. Honestly wouldn’t mind playing the pens if letang and malkin stay out of the line up. Letang destroys us the team is not nearly as strong with those two out of the line up.
Edit; Malkin full practice today, letang no contact there goes that idea. |

I would really rather not play the Pens in first round. I don't care how they are doing or did this year. Facing Murray, Sid, Geno, and Phil in first round is not a great scenario.
While I am less affraid of Columbus... especially after watching that must win game for them last night.. They would definitely not be my choice either. They have a ton of skill players and if they get their sht together and make it in the dance this team is going to be HELL bent to get to the second round finally. I am hoping they don't make it.
If you gave me a choice I would take Carolina. Both teams are happy to be even in the dance and I think one of us knocking off the other team as Wash & Pitt battle it out would be wonderful. |

Well that's who we look to be playing and I think the isles can beat them |

Carolina gets New Jersey next game and Pens get the hot Red Wings. Looking more likely we get the Canes. |

Would have been a solid addition to the article to give the odds of playing each matchup. But I think its 70-80% Penguins chances. |
